People write books for specific reasons. And not every book has to have a moral to the story. While this story is realistic, believable, and focuses on the very painful issue of child trafficking, novels represent make-believe.

When it comes to serious issues like child trafficking, novels may slightly diminishing the mental and emotional impact we hope to accomplish, or raise it. Allison Hobbs mostly writes erotica and I am a fan but some people may have a difficult time separating the issue from the type of entertainment that she is mostly known for... and to have Zane's name attached to it...well...(I'm a Zane Fan too!) Be that as it may, the details of the characters lives and their experiences provide a reality check so deep that this is hardly entertainment. Regarding child trafficking, the world needs a serious wake up call. Writing this book was a great start. It is a beginning in the right direction to getting kids, young innocent girls, and adults learning more about this worldwide problem. Sadly some freak out there reading it may think otherwise. That being said, when we approach a subject this profound, we are responsible for what we put out there and how people respond to it. So I'm thinking, from who's Point of View might this story have been better written from? Bullet's. Now thats impact!

Child Trafficking is all too real and presenting it in story form with details that don't shy away from the issue at all is definitely a good idea. My main consern is, will these girls who need to learn about child trafficking the most, take "Stealing Candy" seriously and not develop an, "those things happen to other people" mentality? Or, will they have an, "those things only happen to actors on television" mindset? Or believe that they are too smart to get caught by explaining what they would have done differently in Gianni's situation. After all, the book is fiction.

Remember how you thought about the Brady Bunch? As an inner city kid, theirs was a life you believed in reality, you could never aspire to. It is the same way with characters in books. They're just not real. Nevertheless, Stealing Candy has the potential to scare any kid straight.

Stealing Candy has spawned a Movement and I hope Allison Hobbs is consistently taking her story to schools and neighborhoods speaking face to face with young girls, young mothers,and parents everywhere and not just reaping the rewards of a story well done with mostly book signings and public appearences. After all, Stealing Candy is about you. If the message isn't clear then what is more scary is anyone's perception of Stealing Candy. Stealing Candy warrants more than just a book review. It requires serious perspective and strong insight as this story could provide the benefits of knowledge or manifest a new wave of Hells' Cats like the character Bullet. Stealing Candy has to continue to be more than just a fictional story about a real and important issue, it must stay the course and provide an earthquake of a wake up call so that lives may be saved in order to provide a future of strong, healthy minded, and happy functional individuals.

Otherwise, is Stealing Candy a true calling or for entertainment purposes only?
